HeliOffshore Launches New Wellbeing App to Support Safety in Offshore Aviation

HeliOffshore has today launched its new Wellbeing App, created to support the people working across the global offshore helicopter industry in high-pressure maintenance operating environments.

The Wellbeing App is the latest way that HeliOffshore is embedding safety and wellbeing into everyday life of offshore helicopter operations. The concept for the app grew out of HeliOffshore’s desire to better support engineers and other frontline professionals in safety-critical roles.

The free app gives users fast, reliable information that will help people in the industry stay healthy, focused and confident both on and off the job. It offers support and advice for those facing issues including fatigue, stress, mental health, or relationship difficulties among others, which all impact concentration, communication and decision-making, as well as help for mental wellbeing emergencies.

Offshore helicopter maintenance operations are demanding. High responsibility, tight timelines, remote locations, challenging weather and complex risks place significant pressure on maintenance crews, engineers and support teams alike. The Wellbeing App strengthens safety culture as when people feel supported, healthy and confident, they think more clearly, communicate more effectively, spot issues earlier, make safer decisions and work together with fewer errors.

Scott Allan, Technical Director at HeliOffshore, said: “Safety is not just about aircraft and procedures, it is also about people. Offshore aviation places significant demands on everyone involved, and HeliOffshore continues to ensure the industry supports people as well as the aircraft, systems and procedures they use. By making wellbeing more visible and accessible with this app, and supporting teams globally with clear, trustworthy guidance wherever they work, we are helping to create an environment where individuals feel supported and can perform at their best. A healthy, focused team is a safer team.”

The HeliOffshore Wellbeing App is available to download free from today on App Stores by searching “HeliOffshore Wellbeing”. No personal data will be collected by the app.

The project has been developed by HeliOffshore with support from Milestone Aviation whose funding has helped to transform a shared industry ambition into a practical, everyday resource for offshore aviation professionals worldwide.

HeliOffshore members also have the option to create company-branded versions of the app. Organisations interested in tailoring the platform for their own teams can contact the app developers, Expert Self-Care, to explore the available options.
